What is stabilized moss?
Stabilized moss is a natural moss that has undergone a special treatment that allows it to retain its appearance and texture for many years. During the stabilization process, the natural moisture in the cells of the plant is replaced with a special glycerin-based solution. As a result, the moss becomes “preserved”, remaining soft, supple and alive in appearance, but no longer growing.
⛔Important: this is not artificial moss. It is a real natural material, just “stopped” in its perfect state.
How does the stabilization process work?
- Moss collection: only in ecologically clean areas.
- Sorting: by species, color, density.
- Immersion in a solution: most often glycerin, water and mineral salts.
- Drying and mold fixation: at controlled temperature and humidity.
- Coloring (if necessary): safe pigments, food coloring are used.
Main types of stabilized moss:
Reindeer moss - Voluminous, airy, often used for vertical landscaping, logos and panels.
Flat moss - More dense and textural, creates the effect of a real forest carpet.
Ball Moss - Used to create a more “wild” and natural look, often combined with other plants.
